Solo Whist Group

Dealing a hand.

The Solo Whist group usually meet on the first Wednesday of each month and at someone's home. Starting at 2pm the group is open to any player whether they are learners or more experienced players. At the moment it is a very mixed ability group and we welcome anybody who can play or who wants to learn how to play.

In Solo Whist the cards are dealt 3 at a time with one round of 4, so that each player ends up with 13 cards. The idea being that you have a better chance of getting a good hand (it doesn't always work).

A player will call a hand, be it a solo or whatever and the other 3 try to stop that player from winning. There is a lot of skill in it and because you need to remember which cards have been played and by whom. It improves the memory, so the better the memory the better the player!
