New members are very welcome and like the whole U3A movement we are growing fast.

To solve the problem of the long waiting lists for membership of the Maldon U3A and the Blackwater U3A,
in January 2009 they jointly decided to sponsor the Heybridge U3A.

The Heybridge U3A is now the third U3A to be located in Maldon.

As part of the Third Age Trust, Heybridge U3A follows the three guiding principles of the U3A in the UK.

They are:

1. The third age principle - The U3A is open to anyone in their third age.

2. The self-help learning principle - All members are equal with no distinction between teacher and student
and with an emphasis on the sheer enjoyment of learning.

3 The mutual aid principle - Each local U3A group is autonomous within the national body - the Third Age Trust.

Heybridge U3A has many interest groups who regularly meet together
and share their interests in the wide range of topics available to our members.
